Reminiscing on last summer’s trip to Maui, Hawaii. Nick’s parents live in Haiku, and we had the best trip ever exploring all of Maui. What I loved in Maui:
Getting lei’d with floral Hawaiian necklaces – a must upon arriving thanks to Nick’s dad
Mamas fish house in Paia – five star seafood restaurant on the water, terribly hard to get reservations and very pricey but a trip to Maui would be incomplete without stopping here for at least cocktails and apps
Little beach in Lahaina
Ana’s Ama’s in Kihei – the Mai Tais are a must and hope you get our same quirky waitor
Learning to paddle board
Thai spice in Paia – excellent hole in the wall joint (like most Maui restaurants that aren’t in the touristy locations)
The huge runs we did in Haiku up hectic hills and then looking down at Maui and the endless palm trees once we reached the top
Homemade pina coladas
Fruit stands along the road to Hana – we stopped at least four times due to my incessant need for more fresh fruit
Water fountains at the top of Pipiwai trail
Star noodle – unbelievable Thai
Snorkeling in Olawalu
Sunrise at the top of the Haleakala National Park – didn’t wake early enough for this but heard it’s a must for Maui tourists
Exploring unusual bars locals flock to with pool tables and open mic in Kihei – Nick played the guitar and I sung Wagon Wheel, yes it’s on video
Late night swims in the pool – loved staring up at the bright stars in Nick’s parents pool lying on the floatie every night

This trip came at the end of the perfect summer. The best way to end such an incredible summer. I’m so glad we went for two weeks and split our time in Haiku (with Nick’s parents) and Wailea (in our own resort). Renting a car was definitely an essential, and having snorkel gear obviously. Thanks to Nick’s parents and brother for making it such a happy, incredible trip I’ll remember forever
I am dreaming of going back and dreaming of my next vacation getaway to a tropical island. Mexico? Caribbean? Cabo?
Still dreaming…….
