The Josie Natori Spring/Summer ’17 Presentation took place last Thursday at the Waterfall Mansion. It was a beautiful event with a lot of nonstop work from helping manage the models, the design team, hair & make-up and making sure press was there to talk to Mrs. Natori and learn about the new direction of the collection.

The entire day/night was beautiful and it was so exciting and busy all day getting the final touches perfect. We even had some of the sewers come up from the Natori office to get the last minute finishing touches on every style to ensure the show went on.

The collection touched on different parts of the company’s roots. From inspiration taken everywhere – Paris, the Philippines, and NYC. The collection really was an amazing celebration of the global heritage of Natori. Rightly so as the collection will be available next year, the year of the company’s 40th anniversary!

The looks were very different from any previous collection. Very ethereal, evoking a fresh escape from the reality of our every day Natori collections to a more celebration of the global heritage of the brand. We wanted the collection to speak to the new designer’s vision of turning the Natori DNA into a more uplifted, elevated, and distinct version of itself. No more straight up and down dresses that are tight to the hips but more of a flowy and relaxed yet glamorous sensibility of the collection.

During the presentation, models lined up on the sides of the gallery showing off the collection with elegance & poise.

Mrs. Natori looked the best with her embroidered floral crop top and black pants. I was so proud of my boss, the beautiful fashionista, who always walks with such an air that makes every person’s head turn as she walks by. Smiling the entire show and talking to Vogue editors, Bobbi Queen, her old friend and longtime WWD designer and editor. It was a remarkable place to be, amidst the bustling fashion world working in the heart of fashion week.

Josie Natori is oh-so-chic in the floral embroidered crop and pants from the SS ’17 Collection.

Whitney Port, a beautiful celeb blogger and actress from the Hills, was on her way to the show when the car service took too long to pick her up. Sadly, she missed it but she sent me a photo of her wearing the Natori Dahlia robe, to wear for the show. She was very, very sweet about it though and of course I was devastated that she couldn’t make it after weeks of trying to plan her to make an appearance. The good thing is in fashion you make connections with people through the industry and you will remember them next time when you have another event. Your name will pop out and people in turn will more likely work with you over someone else because they have a relationship with you.

Overall, the show was a great success and amazing to be a part of. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of the Natori Company as we near our 40th anniversary in 2017!
Have a great week!
